Considering that the average solar cell is priced under $1.00 and that it is possible for the average Joe to put together a working solar panel if he has a good instruction manual and a mentor in the form of DVDs or videos, it is no wonder that more people are doing it themselves.
It is possible to find numerous programs that will teach you how to build and install your own solar power generating system. I think it is a good idea to do some research before buying, because even though the panels can be made for much less than manufactured solar panels there are some controls, even batteries if you want a backup system that are somewhat pricey.
With the above said, it is still possible to make and install your own solar power generating plant for a fraction of the cost of buying an already made setup.
